Kenya is one of the mostly known place for its tourism, Wildlife of Kenya is famous worldwide for its adventurous tours and safaris. The diversity of wildlife of Kenya has garnered international fame, especially for its populations of large mammals, which includes species of lion, cheetah,hippopotamus, African buffalo, wildebeest, African elephant, zebra, rhino and giraffe . Nairobi

Known as the wildlife safari capital of Africa, Nairobi is an energetic, modern city that serves as a fascinating introduction to both wildlife and nightlife. Music clubs pulse with life, and a melange of restaurants will tempt your palate in this former Maasai watering hole.

 

National Parks of are controlled by Kenya Wildlife Services(KWS) who look after and protect the areas. The wages of workers in the National Parks are usually funded by entrance fees charged for safaris and tours. The famous national parks to visit wildlife of Kenya include the following:

 

Nairobi National Park



Nairobi National Park became Kenya's first national park when it was established in 1946. It is located approximately 7 kilometers south of the centre of Nairobi , Kenya's capital city, and is small in relation to most of Africa's national parks. The park has a large and varied wildlife population. Only a fence separates the park's animals from the city. This is the only National Park where you can enjoy wildlife of Kenya with the city as it surrounded by the Nairobi. Migrating herbivores concentrate in the park during the dry season.

 

Maasai Mara National Park



 

The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a large game reserve in Narok County , Kenya, established in 1961. Maasai Mara covers some 1,510 km2. It is globally famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards and cheetahs, and the annual migration of zebra, Thomson's gazelle, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Migration . Maasai mara is a one of the greatest resemblance for the wildlife of Kenya.

 

Lake Nakuru National Park



Lake Nakuru National Park, created in 1961 around Lake Nakuru, to the south of Nakuru  Town, in the Great Rift Valley. It is best known for its thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos nesting along the shores. The surface of the shallow lake is often hardly recognizable due to the continually shifting mass of pink. The number of flamingos on the lake varies with water and food conditions and the best vantage point is from Baboon Cliff. Scientists have calculated that the flamingos feed on 250,000 kilograms of algae per year for each hectare of surface area. Also of interest is an area of 188 km around the lake fenced off as a sanctuary to protect Rothschild giraffes and black rhinos. 

 

Mount Elgon National Park



It is located in Trans Nzoia County 140 kilometres East of Lake Victoria . The park covers an area of 1,279 square kilometres  bisected by the border of Kenya and Uganda. The Kenyan part covers 169 square kilometres which was gazetted in 1968. Main attraction to the park include fauna and flora, the park has a variety of scenery; this includes cliffs, caves, waterfalls, gorges, mesas, calderas, hot springs, and the mountain peaks. The most popular areas are the four explorable, vast caves.

Amboseli National Park:



Amboseli National Parks is Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, one of the most popular parks for wildlife of Kenya. The name "Amboseli" comes from a Maasai word meaning "salty dust", and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and woodlands.  They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

Weather in Kenya / When to Visit:



There is warm, temperate weather in Kenya year-round. Peak travel season is Jul–Oct, due to the dry weather and the migration of wildebeests and zebras into the Masai Mara. During the rainy season (Apr–May) and there is also a shorter rainy season in Nov. Birds Migration may present Sep–Apr.

Other Popular events include Nairobi’s East African Arts Festival (Mar), the Mombasa Carnival, with parades and food stalls; and the Lamu Cultural Festival (Nov), with sailing and donkey races.

 

Visa:



you will need a tourist e-visa from the Kenyan High Commission when travelling into Kenya that would be valid for 90 days from the date of issue. This costs $51 and you can either purchase one on arrival.

Vaccination requirement for Kenya:



Country entry requirement: The government of Kenya requires proof of yellow fever vaccination if you are traveling from a country with risk of yellow fever (this does not include the US - for complete list, see Countries with risk of yellow fever virus (YFV) transmission.

 

The CDC and WHO recommend the following vaccines for Kenya: typhoid, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, cholera, rabies, meningitis, and influenza, but not mandatory also you have to check this matter as per your home country.
