The Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment is conducted by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission to induct capable, physically fit, and ethically responsible officers into the Bihar Police Department. Sub-Inspectors serve as frontline supervisory officers and form a vital link between senior police officials and field personnel. Their duties include maintaining law and order, preventing and investigating criminal activities, registering FIRs, conducting interrogations, collecting and preserving evidence, preparing charge sheets, and presenting cases before courts.
In addition, Sub-Inspectors are entrusted with supervising constables and head constables, managing police station operations, conducting patrols and raids, handling public grievances, ensuring crowd control during sensitive situations, and enforcing laws and government directives. Through their leadership, vigilance, and coordination with other law enforcement agencies, SI officers play a key role in upholding public safety, strengthening community trust, and ensuring effective policing across urban and rural regions of Bihar.
