Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Varanasi has invited online applications from eligible sportspersons for recruitment under the Sports Quota for the year 2026-27. The recruitment is being conducted for 25 Sportspersons posts in different Pay Levels. This opportunity is suitable for candidates who have a good sports background and want to build a career with Indian Railways. Under the BLW Sports Quota Recruitment 2026, selected candidates will be appointed in Banaras Locomotive Works, Varanasi, which is an important production unit of Indian Railways. Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality: Candidates should be eligible Indian citizens as per the recruitment rules.
- Age Limit: The candidate should generally be 18 to 25 years as on 1 January 2027.
- Pay Level-5: Candidates should have a recognised graduate degree, along with the required sports achievements.
- Pay Level-2: Candidates should have passed 12th standard or equivalent, along with the required sports achievements.
- Pay Level-1: Candidates should have passed 10th standard, or possess ITI/NAC (NCVT) qualification, along with the required sports achievements.
- Candidates must fulfil the prescribed sports achievement criteria for their particular sport and level.
- Sports achievements are required to fall within the period and events specified in the official notification.
- Candidates waiting for their qualifying examination results should check the notification carefully, as result-awaited candidates may not be eligible.
- The recruitment is for male sportspersons in Basketball, Volleyball, Wrestling and Handball.
Application Fees:
- General/Other Candidates: ₹500 application fee.
- Refund: ₹400 is refundable after appearing in the sports trial, as specified in the recruitment information.
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Minority/EBC Candidates: ₹250.
- The applicable refund is made after appearing in the trial as per the notification.
- Candidates should complete the fee payment before the closing date.
Pay Scale:
- Pay Level-1: ₹18,000 basic pay
- Pay Level-2: ₹19,900 basic pay
- Pay Level-5: ₹29,200 basic pay
- Railway employees may also receive applicable allowances and benefits as per government rules.
