IIT Roorkee Project Assistant Recruitment 2026

IIT Roorkee has invited applications for the post of Project Assistant (Technical) under the Department of Earthquake Engineering. A total of 2 Project Assistant posts are available under different research projects related to seismological and strong-motion networks. The selected candidates will work on technical activities connected with earthquake data collection, processing, maintenance and analysis.

The first Project Assistant will be involved in the operation and maintenance of a seismological network installed around dam sites in the Garhwal Himalaya region. The work may include maintaining field stations, collecting seismic data, processing and analysing data, and preparing technical reports and bulletins. The second position is related to a Strong Motion Network at dam sites, where the candidate will mainly handle and interpret strong-motion data.

This is a project-based appointment, and the selected candidates will be required to work according to the requirements of the concerned project. The project tenure is mentioned up to March 31, 2027, subject to the project terms. • Eligibility Criteria:

  Candidates should carefully check the qualification and experience requirements before applying.

  • Post 1: 3-year Diploma with 15 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a seismological network around dam sites in the Garhwal Himalaya.
  • Experience in VSAT-based local seismological networks and seismic data processing and analysis will be desirable for the first position.
  • Post 2: 3-year Diploma with 6 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a Strong Motion Network at dam sites.
  • Candidates should have relevant practical experience according to the post they are applying for.
  • Candidates should submit educational and experience certificates along with their application.
  • Preference is mentioned for SC/ST candidates when qualifications and experience are equal.
