HOW TO BECOME AN EXCISE OFFICER?

The name itself indicates is an officer who works under Central Board of Excise
and customs acronym of CBEC, a department of central government of India to
deal with excise related matters.it is one of the most feared name among smugglers
and excise defaulters.
The responsibility of excise officer is hunt these smugglers and defaulters and
bring them to notice in the department so that they can pay taxes according to the
government norms.
To be an excise officer one has to give written and oral exam conducted by staff
selection commission
1- Education qualification : To be eligible for excise officer one should be a bachelor of any stream
2-Age. : The candidate age should be 18 years on 1 st July to 27-year age on that date. The upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidate
3-PHYSICAL STANDARD TEST FOR EXCISE OFFICER. : Physical test for the posts of Central Excise officer, candidates will have to satisfy the following minimum physical standards, failing which they will not be eligible for appointment.
(a) Central Excise officer (Male candidates)
(i) Physical Standards (Minimum)
Height 157.5 cms Chest 81 cms
Height 152.5 cms in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, Kumaon Region, Nagaland Tribes and
members of ST
(ii) Physical Test:
Walking : 1600 metres in 15 minutes
cycling : 8 Km in 30 minutes
(b) Central Excise Officer (Lady Candidates)
(ii) Physical Standard:
Height 152 cms Weight 48 Kilogram
Height 149.5 cm and weight should be 46 kg for Gorkhans, Garhwalis, Assamese, Kumaon region and
Nagaland Tribes and members of ST
(ii) Physical Test:
Walking : 1 km in 20 minutes
Cycling : 3 km in 20 minutes
The total marks within the prelims examination are two hundred
that the candidates get a time of two hours. The queries asked in the preliminary

perform fundamental arithmetical operations and his skill in working our
problems relating to percentages, ratio and proportion, average estimation,
rounding numbers, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance,
ratio and time.
4. Language
5. Communication talent and writing.
The overall marks within the examination square measure 800 and carries each
objective and subjective queries. Upon successful choice within the mains written
